THE AREA AUTO TRACKS SITE FOR FANS

.
Thunderbolt, Georgia.
Seems like a fitting place to live for any person interested in speed.
Thunderbolt is a town located in Chatham County, Georgia approximately five miles southeast of downtown Savannah.
16-year-old Broughton Boatright is heading for his 7th start ever in a 602.
Winning his first time out and one thereafter, his luck wasn't so good at Golden Isles Speedway last Saturday night.
While leading the night's feature by over 3 seconds that crate motor launched more smoke out of it's inside that even Smokey the Bear would have been worried if he had been in the stands.
This kid is the real thing and if some super late model team is looking for young talent, that will not even win for you but will represent the team well, Broughton's your candidate.
A kid brought up the way that you wish more were with a strong work ethic that any prospective sponsor would drool over he was practically born into racing.
His Mechanical, his work ethic and natural talent, along with his dedication and personality has already earned him a scholarship to Speed-U, a place for drivers and mechanics to hone their skills.
His family brought up on the "red clay" and "young gun" Broughton learning all he could, scraping mud, cleaning trailers, working pit crews by age nine, becoming a mini late model driver and winning rookie of the year at the now defunct Oglethorpe Speedway in 2021, the youngest winner in mini lates at Cherokee Speedway in 2023, that year holding 10 wins, 4 second place-finishes, 3 third-place finishes and 3 top fourth-place finishes in and around the southeast.
5 mini late model finishes this season with four wins; it was time to exchange the mini for a 602.
"This is more than a sport to me." said Boatright
"It's in my blood, and i want to understand everything from behind the wheel, to behind the welder."
With help from Evans Delivery Company, Drawdy HVAC, Spanish Moss Home Buyers and Speed-U, Broughton can say his mission is right on schedule.
I knew something was up, upon going to Golden Isle and fans asking me about Broughton.
I didn't know his talent and witnessed it in full potential that night.
I'm proud to say I bat at least about a 300 average over my last 50 years in racing when seeing racing talent and many a famous name has gone on to great things since watching their first race and in my mind thinking "This kid has it and he will become something."
Broughton Boatright.
This kid has it.

Brunswick, Georgia's 3/8's mile
semi banked red clay oval is any race fans definition of what a race track should be.
Good 2 -3 car wide racing with plenty of night surprises as far as victory lane visitors.
Home of the Super Bowl of dirt track racing each winter with the Lucas Oil Late Model series GIS provides entertaining racing and a track that competitors can't brag enough about.
The concessions are pleasantly valued for the wallet and has a good variety menu. If the minor tech problems on this night such as Myracepass not working correctly, and a drawn out show, this track would have received a 5-car rating from Bendinrules.
A definite return trip is in store.
A race fans answer to a good value priced menu is on hand if they visit GIS.
Seating for over 4000 and a well-groomed, maintained racing facility makes GIS a new leader in southern hospitality.
State of the art tech tower and a strong P.A. make watching and listening enjoyable

My northeast tour had my brother and I going to the Genesee Speedway in Batavia, New York Saturday night August 23rd, a 3/8's mile dirt oval slightly banked with a freindly staff and fans.
A definite local flare as Batavia just a small community where the whole town meets on a Saturday night, reminding me of a past Putnam Speedway in Palatka, Florida years past.
Kid's Backpack Give-a-way night and $1.00 Sahlen 's Hot dogs was the theme of the night, and I scarfed down 4 before the night was done.
Late models [10] , Sportsman Modifieds [18], Street Stocks [17], Mini Stocks [11], Novice Sportsman [8] and Bandits [3] were on the card for this night with the Street Stocks putting on the Bendinrules feature of the night with an almost photo finish and plenty of lead swapping.
The racing was finished by 10:50 P.M. and this track gets a 4 car rating for a entertaining evening.

Friday night of our northeast tour and I ventured to the Brewerton Speedway in Brewerton, New York for some DIRT Series racing for the ground pounding big block mods, knowing well that the ESS Sprint cars would also be on hand and 31 of them signed in to provide us on this night the Bendinrules Feature of the night with newcomer Zach Sobotka # 38 from Parish, New York taking an exciting win, taking the lead for good on lap 10.
Sobotka moving up from the Modified Sportsman only weeks ago has learned how to wheel these wheel standing steel horses well.
The big block modifieds signed in 29 strong and Nick Root #30 from Geneva, New York garnered a win form DarrenSmith #12 from Binghamton, New York.
Cody Manitta from Cato, New York #6 won the Dirtcar Sportsman besting 20 others and Joe Isabell #6J won over 16 of his fellow competitors in the America Mod Lite STARS.
This track deserved a 5-car rating for its racing show but high concession prices and having to take a long shower when I got back to homebase from the eye closing dirt conditions lessened it's rating for this event.
